Obama, Clinton - Most Admired Man and Woman

Barrack Obama and Hillary Rodham Clinton are the most-admirable man and woman surpassing all others with 17 percent more votes, states a Gallup Poll of usatoday.com. They made their names in the top most position on the top 10 list of most recognizable and well-known names in various fields of society like politics, religion and culture.

This position was superseded by Obama from George W. Bush in 2008, but still Bush continues to be in No. 2 position, according to a poll conducted in U.S. adults on December 15 – 18. This year the third position has been acquired by Bill Clinton, a name which is little more popular than the next holder, Rev. Billy Graham.

Persistent runner-up Oprah Winfrey is in No. 2 in the women’s list. It’s her 24th year in this list of top 10. Michelle Obama for the first time entered in the list by grabbing the third position, by pushing behind the former Alaska governor Sarah Palin to fourth position.

Until these positions the poll percentages are very close but after this spot, there begins a major vertical downfall in the percentages. Many have made it to the list without much popularity or support. Warren Buffett, who made it to the 5th position, is voted by Alan Rhodes, a 58-year old man, who says he admires the billionaire because, “his wealth is secondary to loving his work.” Newt Gingrich and Donald Trump made the sixth position with 1 percent each, which is just a little more than that of Pope Benedict XVI, Bill Gates and Thomas Monson, who made the rest of the list.

There are notable ties in the Woman’s list also, as the sixth position is being tied by former secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and Laura Bush. Surprisingly again the seventh position is tied between former British PM Margaret Thatcher and comic Ellen DeGeneres. Queen Elizabeth made the ninth position in the list, likely tied with U.S. Rep Michele Bachmann.

Commoners voted Obama and Clinton for various beliefs. As Linda Dinco, 62, says she voted them for their “intelligence and their toughness”.
